Through Symphony of the Rockies, Devin has created immersive and interactive concerts, such as the Discovery and Curiosity Concerts, designed to engage children and families in a fun, educational way. These performances allow young audiences to participate in the music, the storyline, and even the choreography, fostering a deeper connection to orchestral music.

In addition to bringing young people into the concert hall, Devin is committed to showcasing diverse artists and premiering new works. "We have been able to showcase young, diverse, local, and international artists," says Hughes. "And premiere many works right here in Colorado, which gives our community a connection to living artists creating new music."

He also praises the board of directors, who volunteer countless hours to expand the orchestra’s reach. Their unwavering commitment ensures Symphony of the Rockies remains accessible, sustainable, and true to its mission.
Life in Colorado: Devin’s Favorite Spots
When not conducting, Devin enjoys exploring Boulder, where Symphony of the Rockies is based. A few of his favorite local spots include Wild Pastures for a great burger, the Botanical Gardens for a beautiful afternoon, and hikes on the Flatirons foothills. “And of course, I always look forward to attending concerts with Symphony of the Rockies,” he adds.
